Competed in:

1996-1999 four different shows in the NANBF, a natural bodybuilding federation.

I also competed in the Team Universe in 2000 and 2001, as well as the USA in 2000 when Jennifer Mc Vicar turned Pro. It was quite an experience.

Date of birth: 16-May

Birthplace: Benton Harbor, Michigan

Height: 5'6

Vital Stats: Chest   40"
                  Biceps 15"
                  Quads  23.5"
                  Calves  14"

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Brown

Off-season weight:
165 Ibs

Contest weight: 140 Ibs

Fave Foods: Peanut butter, chocolate peanut butter chunk ice cream, hamburgers. Pizza is OK too, but only if I make my own special version with lots of HAMBURGER!!

Hobbies: Boating, lifting weights and traveling

Fave body part to train: Back

Most hated body part to train:

I love to train all my bodyparts, but I would have to say that chest is quite a challenge for me and doing legs usually ends up in a state of nausea and sometimes close to heaving!

Workout days/body parts:

In the off season, she has a 5 on-1 off schedule where she hits chest, legs, shoulders, arms, then back.

Closer to contest season she starts two-a-days, trying to hit each bodypart twice each week and slipping in cardio sessions as well.

A bit about me:

Dr. Malea Jensen is a national level bodybuilder who has been competing since 1996. She has participated in a number of prestigious national competitions including the 2000 USA, as well as the 2000 and 2001 Team Universe. Dr. Jensen has won competitions including the 1999 Heartland Classic and 1999 NPC Midstates Muscle Classic XII.

Malea got into weight lifting when she was in high school to get stronger for basketball and softball. She admits that she was a much smaller version of what she has attained today. Since that first time in the weight room, throwing around heavy weights has grown to be a passion for her. She remembers that Tonya Knight had been one of her girlhood heroes with her feminine lines and rippling muscles. Malea hopes to keep the sport of female bodybuilding feminine. She admits she has a strong will and drive to persevere.

Dr. Jensen is originally from Spencer, Iowa. She completed her undergraduate training at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. Dr. Jensen attended medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, Des Moines, Iowa. She then went on to complete a Family Practice Residency program in Des Moines, Iowa. She is currently employed for the Iowa Health System in Des Moines, where she is a practicing family physician.

In her spare time, Malea enjoys training clients 4-5 days a week, writing articles for e-zines, and traveling. She finds extreme gratitude in helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle. She has also been involved in helping well-known female bodybuilders achieve their goals. She cites Colette Nelson as an up and coming female bodybuilder who has the passion to turn the sport around. Colette has already taken the Heavyweight class at the 2001 USA and hopes to go back and take the whole show in 2002. Colette's aspirations are to be Ms. Olympia, and Malea believes that Colette has the full package to do just that!

Past Acheivements:

Jr nationals in Chicago June 18 and 19. I got 7th in the Light-heavyweight
